Project co-funded by the General Inspectorate for relations with the European Union of the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (IGRUE).
UAIC Research Group on Gender Equality in Science is a multidisciplinary research team set up within the frame of the STAGES project in order to conduct scientific studies and evaluations on Gender Equal Opportunities in Romanian educational and research institutions, particularly at the UAIC (see the main objectives, research group members, research and publications).
Since 2013, "Gender Equality in Science" is a theme for PhD studies at the UAIC. Prof. dr. Doina Balahur, scientific coordinator for PhD in Sociology, announced the topics and the bibliography for 2014 candidates competition. As for 2013, the research will be carried out in cooperation with the FP7 European project STAGES at the UAIC. (more info here).

In the 1st issue of the STAGES Newsletter (no.1/2012, posted online on 28.08.2012) the UAIC's self-tailored Action Plan for STAGES has been presented, similar with the Action Plans of the other partners. (See www.stagesproject.it/newsletter).

The issue number 3/2013 of the STAGES project Newsletter (uploaded on 15 August 2013) includes an article on the UAIC activities during the first 6 months of the 2013, among which the first edition of "Women Researchers Day" and "UAIC Excellence Awards for women researchers". The article published in the 4th issue of the STAGES Consortium's Newsletter (no. 4/2014, uploaded on the 27 January 2014) is titled "Fixing the transformative and formative praxis" and is signed by Prof. Dr. Doina Balahur, the UAIC-STAGES coordinator. The article presents the UAIC's participation at the High-level International Conference on Gender in Science, held at the Vilnius (Lituania), in October 2013, and the main ideas of the communication presented by Prof. Doina Balahur. The 5th issue of the STAGES Newsletter (number 5/2014, published online on July 24th 2014) presents the project's mid-term workshop titled "Gender and Science: Advancements and Resistances in Fighting Structural Inequality", which has been held in Brussels on 25 March 2014. A summary of the research paper communicated at the workshop by the UAIC-STAGES team on the strategies for organizational change aiming to achieve gender equality in science has been written by Professor Doina Balahur. Nr.6/2013
TA new article on the UAIC-STAGES actrivity has been published in the number 6/2014 of the Consortium's Newsletter. The theme of this article is the Documentary Exhibition "UAIC- A Place for Women in Science" which has been organized at the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iasi on the period 23 June -11 July 2014 and was visited by more than 1500 persons. The article was written and signed by Prof. dr. Doina Balahur, UAIC-STAGES coordinator and is illustrated with photos from the varnishing day.
